How it works
Pick a target size and choose an image. The tool first lowers JPEG quality step by step (a binary search on quality), and only if that is not enough it scales the image down, so you keep as many pixels as possible. The result is always a JPEG, the best format for photos at small sizes.
Sizes are counted in 1,000-byte kilobytes with a small safety margin, because many upload forms check the limit that way.
Questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser with JavaScript; the file never leaves your device, so it is safe for contracts, IDs and other private documents.
Why did my PNG become a JPG?
JPEG compresses photos far better than PNG. If you need transparency or sharp text kept, use the image converter with PNG or WebP instead.
What is the smallest size I can reach?
Any size; the tool keeps shrinking the image until it fits. Very small targets make the image small and soft, so check the preview.
